Notre relation à la mer dépasse le seul rapport physique. Elle est aussi émotionnelle et imaginaire — et c’est dans cette transformation intérieure que commence toute démarche artistique.
Le Cabaoui est un laboratoire artistique dédié à cette relation à la mer à Marseille, un espace d’expériences transdisciplinaires où nous réapprenons à écouter, à créer et à prendre soin du vivant.
Le Cabaoui commence là où s’arrêtent les certitudes.
On y arrive apprenti, pas expert.
La mer défait ce que l’on croyait savoir et enseigne une autre grammaire —faite de marées, d’espèces merveilleuses, d’attention et de limites.
Nous pratiquons le non-savoir comme une discipline : écouter avant d’agir, laisser le lieu orienter nos gestes.
L’émerveillement n’est pas un ornement, c’est un muscle que l’on entraîne.
De cette posture peut naître une création juste.
Une résidence n’est pas un privilège, c’est une responsabilité.
Chaque résident devient gardien — du cabanon, du quartier, des vies discrètes qui respirent dans l’eau et autour d’elle.
La mer n’est ni décor ni ressource. Elle est un partenaire vivant qui répond quand on apprend à lui poser les bonnes questions.
Créer ici signifie d’abord prendre soin : des murs, des courants, des récits, des relations.
Le Cabaoui est un territoire d’alliances où se rencontrent art, science, savoirs populaires et intuitions pour tisser une attention commune à l’écosystème qui nous accueille.
La mer offre d’abord.
Ensuite seulement vient le geste. Nous échangeons du temps contre de la présence, de l’hospitalité contre une transmission, du silence contre une forme.
Le projet respire de cette circulation : on ne consomme pas le lieu, on ne confond pas résidence et vitrine.
Nous choisissons la force du cœur — la coopération plutôt que la carrière, l’entraide transdisciplinaire plutôt que la signature solitaire.
Ce lieu est pour celles et ceux qui acceptent d’être transformés afin d’aider d’autres à réapprendre à relationner avec la mer.
Pas une chambre avec vue — mais une relation à habiter.

the discreet lives breathing in the water and around it.

for walls, currents, winkles, stories, and relations.
